This evening Chelsea hosted Wycombe Wanderers at Cobham for a ‘behind closed doors’ friendly. With the originally planned opening fixture away to Vitesse cancelled, tonight was the first opportunity for Andre Villas Boas to get a look at his players in a competitive situation.

Villas Boas had at his disposal a large squad and was able to give 21 players 45 minutes each (B. Clifford and Mellis shared the second half).

The full match report is available to read on the official website, so there’s no need to just copy and paste it here, there are however plenty of interesting snippets of information to be gathered from this evening’s football.

Goals scored by Benayoun, Torres and Rajkovic.

It was great to hear that Kalas, Van Aanholt, Kakuta, McEachran were all given playing time.

Clean sheet halves for Hilario and Turnbull.

Great to ponder if Rajkovic is finally eligible to play for us. Will he count towards HG quota? Is Kalas already making a good impression? Torres has scored again, boosting confidence, how many goals this season? Who will start away to Pompey at the weekend?
