Towards the end of last week, we ran an article confirming that one of our popular former strikers, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Click Here, had agreed to take over the managerial post at the troubled League One side, Northampton Town.

The club, affectionately known as ‘The Cobblers` were amongst those clubs stranded at the bottom of the table who hadn`t picked up a point all season.

Nevertheless, after ten months out of the game, after being axed by our West London rivals, Queens Park Rangers, Jimmy saw it as the perfect challenge to get his managerial career back on track.

On Saturday, his first game in charge, Northampton welcomed Doncaster Rovers to their Sixfields Stadium.

Hasselbaink was to see his side get the perfect start with Matt Crooks putting Northampton ahead inside the first minute, scoring with just 21 seconds on the clock, probably before Jimmy had gotten comfortable on the bench.

The goal turned out to be the only goal of the game as Northampton registered their first win of the season.

Let`s hope Jimmy can keep it up!
