German defender Robert Huth, speaking at the German training camp, confirmed that he is to leave Chelsea.

The young defender, when approached about his career situation expressed a desire to speak with Mourinho after the World Cup stating that he wanted regular first team action.

However, when pressed about the interest from Wigan Athletic, Robert tactfully explained that he hadn?t heard about their interest, this despite the media reporting yesterday that a bid of £5.5 million had been accepted by Chelsea.

Indeed, this morning there are fresh claims that Aston Villa are about to enter the race to sign the powerful German defender. Unfortunately, considering the current financial situation at Villa Park, it is doubtful that David O?Leary will be able to raise the funds to finance the transfer.

O?Leary apparently tried to sign Robert Huth, on loan, during the last two transfer windows but was thwarted.

With Robert currently concentrating on the forthcoming World Cup it?s easy to understand his desire to wait until the tournament is over clearly feeling that this unique event is about to become his own personal showcase.
