There are few players in the current Chelsea squad more crucial to future success than N`golo Kante. The softly spoken Frenchman has been a revelation since his move to West London.

Signed for just over £32m from Leicester City, were he to be sold, Chelsea would be looking to at least treble their money. His value on Transfermarkt is £54m.

Of course, speculation is rife for any decent Premier League player no matter what club he plays for. With a bottomless pit of Euro`s floating around the coffers of PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona, it`s obvious to assume one of the big three will come calling at some point.

It`s easy journalism. In the same way Chelsea will obviously dispense with the services of Antonio Conte this summer. Those in the media world just follow the well worn narrative.

At the end of this season Kante will still have three years left on his current Chelsea contract. Given that knowledge, why would anybody assume he`s going anywhere. Chelsea have no need to sell, so why even suggest a move is in the offing. But with column inches and clicks to sell, why not.

Kante has been speaking, following interest from one of the big three, PSG. The Evening Standard have the quotes,

‘I am at home. It is my club, I am a Chelsea player. This is my second year at Chelsea. After what happened last season, it was a very good one for us because we got to celebrate winning the title. In the second season, I have got to play in the Champions League and we are going again to finish in the top four.”

Nice and positive from N`golo there, let`s hope the rest of his teammates are able live up to both his and our expectations.

Kante will be at Chelsea next season regardless of Champions League football. There’s an old saying ‘a man who travels around in a mini, when he earns £150,000-per-week, does not value money and material things, over the love of his work.’
