Chelsea fans long wait for their golden jewel, Ngolo Kante, to return to the team came to an end on Sunday, at Stamford Bridge in the clash of two English football giants.

Kante, the EPL player of the 2016 /2017 season had suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with France back in September and his absence had forced Chelsea to struggle for rhythm in the defence of their EPL title.

No doubt, the Chelsea team struggled following Kante’s absence as there was no rhythm and fighting spirit in their game pattern. His absence was sorely felt and was evident in a loss to the Premier League strugglers, Crystal Palace where Chelsea defenders conceded goals like a school kids.

The most disappointing part was a Champions League match at the Bridge between Chelsea and Roma where Roma dominated proceedings as Chelsea surrendered a two goal lead to draw on a night to forget for the blue faithful.

The last straw, the one that broke the camels` back, was the total capitulation in Rome where Chelsea were humiliated and humbled in a 3-0 defeat. It was a bad day in the history of the club. Roma schooled the Chelsea players by making it to look like a training session.

There was no link between the defence line and the midfield and from midfield with the attack. The team looked disjointed and ugly to watch. Every fan knew there was something missing.

The question from their lips was where is the engine of the team? Where is the midfield enforcer? Where is the General? When will Kante return?

On Sunday evening, Yes, Kante returned from injury. Even before he kicked the ball, fans were in a celebratory mood seeing the missing rib of the club in the line up raised their hopes.

They believe Kante can do it and they expected nothing less than 3 points with Kante presence. Ngolo is back and everything is back to normal against Manchester United. Chelsea looked convincing and looked like the side that won the EPL last season as every department lived up to the task.

The spirit lifter (Kante) makes everything easier for Bakayoko and Fabregas as the duo were able to advance to the United box to terrorize and unsettled the United defence. They looked so comfortable on and off the ball unlike the previous matches which signals Lord Kante is back.

The defenders were calm and decent in their tackles as they know with Kante, they are well protected. The link between the midfield and the attack was so perfect and makes the blue faithful feel like watching the Pep Guardiola 2010 Barcelona side.

On Sunday, every Chelsea fan was smilling seeing the performance displayed by their great club and seeing how Chelsea make Manchester United looked ordinary. Let’s hope Kante stay fit and we can boldly expect a positive season ahead. Up the Blues!
