Lenny Pidgeley makes surprise Premiership start!

Chelsea were forced to give Lenny Pidgeley his first Premiership start at St James Park in the last fixture of the 2005-2006 season when Carlo Cudicini was injured in the pre-match warm up.

The popular Italian keeper, who for the second successive season didn?t make enough Premiership appearances to earn a medal, injured an ankle and had to be helped from the pitch.

For Pidgeley, it meant that it was his second Premiership after he made his debut in the home game against Charlton last season.

However, he has first team experience after making numerous appearances whilst on loan at Watford. Incidentally, two of those appearances were made against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
