Liverpool Ace Feeling Blue?

Is it he who laughs last laughs loudest or longest? I?m not sure.

However, after being subjected to Luis Garcia?s banal celebration at Old Trafford last Saturday; I?m walking about with a silly grin on my face this morning. Deep down I know it?s wrong but there again are any of us perfect? I?m certainly not!

On Saturday, Garcia made a point, whilst celebrating, that on this occasion the ball had gone over the line. Clearly the Spaniard, deep down, shared misgivings about the legality of the solitary goal that sent Liverpool through to the Champions League final last season. Now normally, I?d let such an incident pass by without comment, however such is the history between us in recent years, I simply can?t.

Firstly, we had Mourinho innocently putting a finger to his lips urging the Liverpool supporters to be quiet in Cardiff and then subsequently receiving instruction to vacate the bench. Secondly, we had Frank Lampard booked for repeating the gesture after scoring at Anfield during the 4-1 drubbing of Liverpool. On both occasions we, Chelsea, were seen to be punished.

However, on Saturday, Garcia?s little gesture went unpunished. Is there any surprise there? So imagine my probably misguided delight to witness the Spaniard sent off for violent conduct in a melee with Hayden Mullins at West Ham on Wednesday night. With an automatic three game ban, Garcia will now miss the FA Cup Final.

Inevitably, noise is being made about making an appeal, that Garcia shouldn?t miss the FA Cup Final, that the rules should be changed. Excuse me haven?t we been down this route before? Didn?t the rules get changed to allow Liverpool to compete in the Champions League this season? Just what is it about this lot? Are they outside the rules?

I know it?s harsh but rules are rules and both teams would have been perfectly aware of the consequences of receiving a straight red card last night, so don?t cry over spilt milk boys.

As for Cardiff, enjoy your day Mr Luis Garica! Me bitter? Off course I am!
