And so it`s back (football) and I`m back (merlin), and it almost seems as if neither of us have been away!
My inbox is full of article suggestions (going back a week or so) and I`ll endeavour to plough through them over the next few days, printing those that are still relevant, but first to the matter in hand.
This afternoon, at Villa Park, Chelsea contest the traditional season curtain raiser against Manchester City.
Pitting the Premier League winners against the FA Cup winners is something that would normally generate huge revenue for charity but the moving of the fixture, to Villa Park, will take some of the gloss of that.
However, it does give supporters the first chance to see their side in serious competitive action and if you`re a Chelsea fan, like me, you may well be a little nervous. Our pre-season form hasn`t exactly set the world alight with our most recent display seeing us go down 3-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Can Chelsea hit form this afternoon?
