Earlier this month, here at Vital Chelsea, we reported on the speculation linking Chelsea with a move for the Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.
Our article – chelseas-interest-in-classy-left-back-depends-on-the-price-being-right-before-he-can-come-on-down – inferred that Leicester City will not let the England international go on the cheap.
We surmised that it may take, in these COVID-19 pandemic affected financial times, a fee of £50 million to lure the defender away from the King Power Stadium.
Well, according to Sky Sports,
that figure may not be nearly enough to persuade Leicester City to sell.
It appears that the fact that Chilwell has four years left to run on his current contract leaves Leicester in no rush to sell unless they receive an offer they cannot refuse.
Based on the above, my views are that this deal won’t happen and Chelsea will have to look elsewhere.
