Sons Set To Follow In The Footsteps Of Their Famous Father

|

The final home game of a domestic league season is an event that can offer mixed emotions.

Firstly, there’s the realisation that you’ll not be seeing your side in action, on home soil, for a couple of months.

But, secondly, they can be times of celebration where, as has been the case with Chelsea, trophies are hoisted high into the Stamford Bridge air.

One such end of season game that occasionally springs to mind comes from the era when Eidur Gudjohnsen was part of the Chelsea squad.

I can recall, as I loitered around inside the ground, waiting for the tube queue to diminish, seeing Eidur playing, in front of one of the goals, with two of his sons.

At the time, they were very young and those still in the ground cheered when one of them managed to hit the back of the net.

Roll the years on and it appears that two of Eidur’s sons are set to follow their father (and grandfather) into the professional game if they maintain their current progress.

The good folk of the news source, marca, are reporting that sixteen-year-old Andri and twelve-year-old Daniel, have both signed for Real Madrid.

Andri has joined Los Blancos’ Juvenil side whilst Daniel has joined the Infantil B squad.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we wish both well and perhaps we’ll be hearing the names of Andri Gudjohnsen and Daniel Gudjohnsen in the years to come.
