Fitting old words to a new situation?
Yesterday I commented on how the press were muck spreading when it came to our club captain and of how they were trying to manipulate a non-existent situation to make it look as if Terry`s Chelsea career was coming to an end.
Today, there`s more of the same appearing in the red-top media.
For reasons that, I believe, border on spite, they`re intimating that Terry`s place in the side shouldn`t be taken for granted. Well you might say that there`s nothing wrong there and I`d be forced to agree.
But, what irks me is the manner in which they rehash a quote used by Jose Mourinho in his Real Madrid days, to cast doubt on Terry`s future, wit the quote reading,
“I am a coach who looks for meritocracy. Whoever I think is best must play. Without looking at status or the past. It is a normal situation.”
And then, probably to get the rest of their pound of flesh, the subject of interest from AS Monaco in acquiring Terry, for £7 million, is thrown into the hat.
Shameful!
