The Great Chelsea Olivier Giroud Debate

|

Given a rare start, in the emphatic 4-0 win against Sevilla in the Champions League, in midweek, Olivier Giroud has certainly given Frank Lampard a selection headache ahead of the Premier League visit of Leeds United.

Not only did Giroud play well but in scoring all four goals, he became the first player to do so since Lampard himself scored four times against Aston Villa back in 2010.

But the crux of the problem facing Lampard is that if he does not give the 34-year-old Giroud more starts, he could well see the World Cup winner leave the club in the January transfer window.

A decent article in The Telegraph, discusses the dilemma Giroud faces.

With the Euro 2020 Championships fast approaching, Olivier knows that his place in the French squad is at risk if he does not get regular action.

But you get the feeling that Olivier does not want to leave Chelsea but realises he has no choice if he is to fulfil his dream of playing in one last major international tournament.

If you were Frank Lampard what would you do?

Should Olivier Giroud Start Regularly For Chelsea?

I believe Giroud has to be given a start after his showing at Sevilla. So that it sends a message to both the regular starters – perform or lose your place & to the reserves – perform & you will be given starts .
