The Chelsea legend that is Gianfranco Zola has resigned as the boss of the Championship side Birmingham City.

Since taking over, the 50-year-old Sardinian has experienced a torrid run of results.

Presiding over 24 games, Gianfranco has seen his side win just 2.

In the process, Birmingham City have slipped to 20th in the Championship table and are in danger of being relegated to League One, sitting just 3 points above the relegation places with 3 games to go.

When Zola replaced the axed Gary Rowett, Birmingham City were sitting 7th in the Championship table.

Despite being one of the most talented footballers I`ve ever seen, it seems that the managerial lark isn`t something the likeable Sardinian is cut-out for.

Is Gianfranco one of those who was a fantastic footballer but unable to make the switch to management a successful one?
