Down at the Vitality Stadium, with the score at 2-1, there was the chance that Bournemouth might get back into the game.

Thankfully, that wasn`t the case.

With Chelsea looking for a third goal to wrap the three points out, Marcos Alonso stepped up to fire home the most exquisite of free-kicks.

Previously, this season, the wing-back had seen two efforts crash against the woodwork, so Saturday could be described as third time lucky.

Following the collection of three more points, as Chelsea close in on the Premier League title, Alonso had a few words for the media about the title race and his goal.

First the title race, with Alonso remarking,

“Every game we win is a strong message to other teams.

“We`ve been there almost all season. We are showing we want to be there, we`re playing very well and fighting for it. That`s what we need to keep doing.

“We have seven ‘finals` left, every game is going to be massive.

“We`re going to have to play each game as the last one because we need the points to get closer to the title.

And on his excellent free-kick, he added,

“I was very happy with my goal because it gave us the peace to relax and make the game more comfortable.

“I`ve hit the post twice already this season. When I took the ball, everyone was saying ‘Please, one inch lower!”.

It was an excellent strike from a player that has impressed since joining Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

More of the same please Marcos.
