Having briefly mentioned the possibility of Chelsea signing Roma`s Edin Dzeko in yesterday’s transfer update, overnight those rumours have grown into something more substantial.
It would appear that Chelsea have approached the Italian club with a view to buying both Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri, last night, that possible deal may have involved Michy Batshuayi going the other way. However, the reliable Simon Phillips thinks that`s not the case.
UPDATE!
Sky Italy have begun reporting this now – say Chelsea are in discussions for a ?65m deal to bring in both Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri from Roma.
No Batshuayi as part of the deal, he`s still wanted by Sevilla and Fiorentina now too. pic.twitter.com/3YVYNXOEWq

This is more like it from those who currently carry out the Blues transfer dealings.
A slight stumbling block, according to The Daily Star is the valuation. Chelsea`s assessment of the players, values them at £44m, whereas Roma are looking at a figure in the region of £75m. Having seen Dzeko score a worldy against us in the Champions League, this move is surely a ‘no brainer`. In the current market, at £75m, these two would be equal to one Liverpool centre back.
Of course we`re talking about the hard dealing Marina Granovskaia and Roman Abramovich here, so let`s not get our hopes up too much. However, if they can pull something out of the hat, these two plus Ross Barkley will equate to a pretty good January transfer window.
The club will have addressed the left wingback position, a striker with Premier League history at a top club and an up and coming English midfielder who has never really been given a shot at the big time.
Should there be any updates, we`ll keep you posted right here.
