Bridge Staying!

Conflicting reports with regard to the future of Wayne Bridge have emerged today.

One leading tabloid has intimated that Wayne has been the subject of bids from Fulham and Spurs. Indeed, according to the tabloid the bid from our North London rivals was in the region of £5million. Whereas Fulham seem intent on luring Bridge back to Craven Cottage, where he spent the latter half of the season on loan with another Chelsea defender, Robert Huth.

However, it appears that both bids could be in vain with another leading tabloid suggesting that Mourinho has spoken to Wayne and has implied that he has a future at Chelsea. With Asier Del Horno seemingly out of favour, it would appear an ideal opportunity for Bridge to establish himself in the Chelsea line-up.

The player, who was signed from Southampton by our previous manager, Claudio Ranieri, has recovered full fitness since going to Fulham and looks to be ready to play an integral role in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Indeed, it would appear that the reasons why Mourinho chose to loan Bridge to Fulham have now been fully vindicated.

With the rumours of the ageing Brazilian, Roberto Carlo, joining us fading by the day, it’s pleasing to hear that somebody who was thought to be on his way could well be on the verge of fulfilling the enormous potential he once showed before the horrific injury at St James Park temporarily halted his career.
