The big piece of transfer speculation doing the rounds this morning relates to an audacious bid, by Chelsea, to land the Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 28-year-old prolific Polish striker would make a stunning acquisition to the club and there`s no doubting he`d score a hat-full of goals.

Last season, whilst wearing the colours of the Bavarian giants, Bayern Munich, Lewandowski netted 43 times, with 30 of those goals contributing to Bayern Munich making it five Bundesliga titles on the trot.

But it would appear that all is not well with Lewandowski at Bayern.

According to the Mirror, Lewandowski is unsettled at the club and hasn`t been afraid to dish out criticism relating to his team-mates.

It also seems that the relationship between Lewandowski and the current Bayern Munich manager, our ex-manager Carlo Ancelotti, is strained, with Lewandowski`s agent, Maik Barthel, quoted as having remarked,

“Robert told me that he got no support and that the coach gave no call to help him in the last game to win the top-scorer title.

“He was disappointed as I have ever seen him before.”

If a deal could be orchestrated, the fee would be huge, but sometimes if you want to be the best you have to buy the best, do you not?
