One of Chelsea FC`s most revered sons celebrates his birthday today. Super Frankie Lampard turns 39. The day the club allowed him to leave out of the back door of Stamford Bridge was indeed a sad one. Never before had we seen a more complete player, box to box didn`t even begin to describe him.

To celebrate, the official Chelsea Website are running a Lampard Birthday Goal Poll. There are 14 ‘bangers` to chose from. Personally my favourite was the penalty he stepped up to take in that Champions League semi-final at Stamford Bridge in 2008. Not only because it helped break the ‘Liverpool jinx`, but because of the sheer courage he had to put himself in the spotlight. The game was his first back following the sad passing of his mother Pat.

Just note if you go to the poll page, the fourteen pictures don`t link to video`s, as I thought, first click on the picture is your vote, to be fair it does say that, I didn`t read it! DOH!!

Do you have any personal memories of Frank, mine’s a bit weird.. he was warming up on his own in the centre circle, can’t remember the game but he was a substitute. My son and I were directly opposite him next to the dug-outs. Well he was bending and stretching and contorting his body in all sorts of strange positions, we giggled like school kids, he looked across, laughed as well, and pointed directly at us. I miss Super Frank, happy birthday.
