Chelsea Could Have Found The Eventual Successor To Thiago Silva

|

Earlier today, covering speculation that had appeared in the media, we ran an article covering the possibility that one of our centre-backs could be going out on-loan once the January transfer window opens.

Our article – chelsea-set-to-loan-out-defender-in-january-transfer-window, covered Newcastle United’s apparent interest in Fikayo Tomori.

Elsewhere, in the media today, there is further speculation relating to a central defender but, this time, discussing the possibility of Chelsea buying one.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are one of three Premier League clubs, the others being Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who are monitoring the progress Ben White is making with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Last season, the 23-year-old had an impressive season, on-loan, with Leeds United and since returning to the south coast has played in every Premier League fixture for Brighton.

Although Thiago Silva has proven to be a superb acquisition and his partnership with Kurt Zouma has been vital in stabilising our defence, we are realistic enough to accept that, at best, he has only a couple of seasons left before age does catch up with him.

Therefore, we have to ask whether Ben White could be the player Chelsea sign to step into the void left when Thaigo Silva does decide enough is enough?

Your thoughts on the piece of transfer speculation above would be most appreciated in our comment facility beneath this article.
