Chelsea Set To Loan Out Defender In January Transfer Window

|

On the day the summer transfer window closed, Fikayo Tomori turned down a loan move to our London neighbours, West Ham United.

Clearly, the 22-year-old was prepared to remain at Stamford Bridge and fight for a place in Frank Lampard’s starting eleven.

However, Tomori has only featured on three occasions this season, once in the Premier League and twice in the Carabao Cup, with Lampard preferring to use the veteran Thiago Silva and the much-improved Kurt Zouma.

As a result, and with the opening of the January transfer window looming, reports are emerging, courtesy of The Daily Mail, that Tomori will be sent out on loan.

Our quoted source is suggesting that Newcastle United could be his destination although the waters are somewhat muddied by the inference that an unnamed, top European club are also interested in doing a deal for the player.

A loan deal seems to be the sensible action.

Tomori is highly rated but needs regular first-team football to enhance his reputation and show exactly what he can do.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we will endeavour to keep an eye out for any further developments and report back as deemed necessary.
