Chelsea Defender Is The Subject Of Interest From Spain

|

Under Antonio Conte, when Chelsea switched to a back-three whilst also deploying two attacking wing-backs, Marcos Alonso became something of an unlikely hero.

The Spaniard showed that his attacking instincts suited the role perfectly and the 28-year-old more than proved he was worth his place as an automatic selection in the starting eleven.

However, this season, with Maurizio Sarri switching to a back-four, Alonso’s defensive limitations have been exposed and, recently, he’s found himself vying for a place in the side with Emerson.

Today, lurking in the pages of the red-top publication, the Sun, is the inference that Alonso’s career at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end.

Seemingly, the Spanish club, Atletico Madrid, are keen to acquire his services.

My view is that Alonso still has a part to play in Chelsea’s future but is that a view you concur with?

Do you agree with my view or do you believe that now is the time to move the Spaniard on?
