Chelsea Looking Towards France For Centre-Back Recruitment

For amateur hacks, like myself, this is the most wonderful time of the year.

I have always loved the January transfer window, merely because it generates so much speculation regarding transfer to fill my boots when it comes to articles.

It also gives me the perfect opportunity to express some, at times, frank views.

Today, making my way through the plethora of news sources available, an article generated by le10sport caught my eye.

It suggests that Chelsea could be set to make an attempt to add another centre back to their squad.

Whilst I readily accept that, despite his age, Thiago Silva has been a wonderful acquisition I also accept the 36-year-old Brazilian cannot go on for ever, if we get another season out of him we will have done well.

So, getting back to the crux of the article, who is this centre-back we are, supposedly, showing an interest in?

Well, according to our quoted source, Chelsea are among a number of clubs interested in buying the French defender, Mohamed Simakan.

The 20-year-old is, currently, on the books of Strasbourg and as for the other clubs interested in the defender, look no further than AC Milan and Nice.

In the past Chelsea have recruited some classy French defenders with Marcel Desailly and Frank LeBoeuf instantly springing to mind.

Could Chelsea, very soon, have another French partnership at the heart of the defence in Kurt Zouma and Mohamed Simakan?
