Chelsea Stalwart Linked With A Move To An Unlikely Destination

|

There’s no doubting that, in future years, the name of Gary Cahill will be fondly recalled by Chelsea supporters looking back on our glory years

The centre-back, during his time with Chelsea Football Club, has won everything, at club level, there is to win, possibly culminating in being part of the starting eleven that travelled to Munich to beat Bayern in their own backyard and lift the Champions League trophy in May 2012.

However, at 32-years-of-age, Cahill now finds that earning a regular place in the Chelsea starting eleven is becoming harder and harder. Having switched from a back three to a back four, Maurizio Sarri currently has a preference to play David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger at the heart of the defence.

Therefore, it probably won’t come as a surprise to find that Cahill, whilst the summer transfer window in Europe remains open, is being linked with a move away from the club.

The tabloid publication, the Sun, has picked up on something in the Turkish media vehicle Fotomac, inferring that Chelsea have given permission for Galatasaray to open talks with the defender.

Whilst it’d be sad to see Cahill and Chelsea part-company, it’s fair to say that everything comes to an end sometime and perhaps that time is now.
