With a matter of days to go before the January transfer window slams firmly shut, it appears that Callum Hudson-Odoi is hell-bent on getting his desired move away from Stamford Bridge.

According to the tabloid news source, the Mirror, Hudson-Odoi has handed in a transfer request.

Naturally, here at Vital Chelsea, we find that news a little upsetting, we did have hopes that Hudson-Odoi could be persuaded to stay.

But, although some may suggest that it’s all money-related, that, in all honesty, isn’t true, the 18-year-old is intent on leaving Chelsea in order to get more first-team football.

However, although Bayern Munich is seen as his most likely destination, the news vehicle, the Daily Mail, are reporting that there is another Bundesliga club keen to sign the player, with our referenced source inferring that RB Leipzig are set to enter the race to sign the winger.

Perhaps the biggest indication that Hudson-Odoi is leaving Chelsea before the transfer window closes could come this evening.

Chelsea are due to entertain Sheffield Wednesday, in a FA Cup 4th round tie, it is the kind of fixture that we’d expect Hudson-Odoi to play in if he doesn’t then perhaps Chelsea are looking towards a sale and don’t want to run the risk of the youngster picking up an injury.

Although perhaps a little harsh, our view, here at Vital Chelsea, is that if a player doesn’t wish to play for the club then no matter who he is he should be moved on.

  • Move him on quickly but not to Bayern. I really do not believe in the first team and playing time excuse. if thats the desire, there are many clubs that will take him on loan.
He is attracted to Bayern simple, either for money or cheap bundesliga trophies and does not have the love of chelsea at heart.
Move him on quickly, he is not the end of the world.

  • This is the biggest blot on the Sarri regime in my opinion. CHO was the best winger in pre-season & he should have started the season in the starting 11 & William/Pedro should have had to work to dislodge him. Imho its a huge blow, the biggest since we sold KdB

  • After watching CHO during pre-season I quickly opined that we found a ready Hazard replacement if he went on to Real Madrid at the time. I am surprise that even at this moment in time Sarri is still questioning this young man’s qualities. If Sarri can be bold to play a front 3 of Hazard, Higuain and Hudson (HHH) consistently till the end of the season, we will not only convince Hazard to stay but also CHO, because our attack will be so devastating to any opposition that all will enjoy playing for this club again. Yes Willian and Pedro are good but IMO CHO is more dangerous with the ball just like Hazard. And CHO has shown that he has goals in him if given adequate playing time.
