Chelsea’s Forgotten Man When It Comes To Centre-Backs

|

This summer, a lot of the talk relating to Frank Lampard improving his Chelsea team has revolved around strengthening the defence.

As a result, the club has signed Eduardo Mendy, Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva.

It is hoped that the latter will play an extensive part in shoring up a defence that, at times, looked shambolic last season.

Since the arrival of the veteran Brazilian centre-back, there have been a lot of discussions as to who should, on a long-term basis, partner him at the heart of the defence, with cases being made for Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori.

Who Would Be Your Preferred Defensive Partner For Thiago Silva?

Kurt Zouma

Andreas Christensen

Fikayo Tomori

Antonio Rudiger

Although many thought it would be Antonio Rudiger, it appears our German international centre-back is surplus to requirements – chelsea-defender-linked-with-a-controversial-loan-move – with his future lying elsewhere.

But, away from the quartet I’ve already mentioned is Chelsea’s forgotten man – Matt Miazga.

The American international joined Chelsea in April 2016 but has been conspicuous by his absence for the last three seasons.

During those three seasons, Miazga has been sent out on loan to Vitesse, Nantes and Reading and speculation is rife, courtesy of Goal, that for the remainder of this season he will be going out on loan to Anderlecht.

At 25-years-of-age, Miazga should be at the peak of his game but it would appear there is no room for him at Stamford Bridge.

Instead of a fourth consecutive loan spell, would it not just be better to sell him?

    Loaning out players ?
The only profit Chelsea get from loaning out players is selling them later, Abraham and Mount could not be playing for Chelsea of it was not about transfer ban.
Rahman Baba, Bakayoko, Miazga, Moses, Kennedy, Baker, batshwayi never improves?

I don’t know why but me as a Chelsea fan, #most players we loan out doesn’t improve, we only see full potential of a player after selling him , like KDB , Mo Salah, Romelu Lukaku cases
