The last time, here at Vital Chelsea, we spoke about Gary Cahill, it looked, according to speculation, as if the free-agent was destined to remain in the Premier League.
The insinuation being that the loyal-chelsea-servant was set to return to the very club where it all began for him.
However, since our article, the trail relating to a return to Villa Park seems to have gone cold. See my article on Vital Villa in reference to the link: Chelsea Fan Gives Us His Opinion On Cahill And If The Return To Villa Link Is A Good One
It could just be that Cahill is in no rush to make a decision and could be simply mulling over his options whilst on his summer vacation.
If that is the case then Cahill may, according to 90 min.com have a lot more to ponder over.
Our referenced source is inferring that the race to sign Cahill has now been joined by a trio of London clubs with Arsenal, West Ham United and Crystal Palace all being linked with the 33-year-old central defender.
If that is the case then Cahill really is spoilt for choice.
But, is there a bigger lure than returning to where it all started and being part of Aston Villa’s campaign to consolidate, after their promotion from the Championship, their newly-earned Premier League status?
The other trio may, perhaps, offer Cahill a more lucrative contract but I just have this nagging suspicion he’ll be wearing claret and blue next season and it won’t be the shirt of West Ham United.
