Former Chelsea Boss Interested In One Of His Former Charges

|

We are at that stage of the summer transfer window where, having spent a large sum of cash bringing in a raft of exciting talent, the club needs to trim the squad.

We all have our own thoughts on who might, or should, be sold.

The latest piece of speculation being touted by the media, courtesy of The Daily Mail, is that our former boss, Antonio Conte, now in charge of Inter Milan, would like a reunion with one of the players he was very familiar with while he managed Chelsea.

The player in question is none other than Marcos Alonso.

The 29-year-old full-back, who is far better going forward than he is at defending, knows he faces stiff competition for his place in the starting eleven with Frank Lampard having brought Ben Chilwell to Stamford Bridge.

I believe that Lampard would like to off-load either Emerson or Alonso, with whoever stays providing competition, or back-up, for Chilwell.

Could it be a case of whoever the club receives a satisfactory bid for, or could both go?

I’d like to see Alonso remain with Chelsea, his attacking prowess allied with his ability from free-kicks gives Chelsea an extra option.

But what are your view on the subject matter, is Alonso set to head for the Stamford Bridge exit?

Please feel free to have your say on the subject matter in the comment facility beneath this article.
