In one of those strange quirks of fate, somebody who was axed in the corridors of Goodison Park could soon return there as their boss!

After sacking Ronald Koeman yesterday, Everton are on a search to recruit a top-class replacement.

According to the good folk of the best-selling red-top publication, The Sun, Carlo Ancelotti is one of several names being bandied about as the man to fill the managerial void.

Ancelotti, you may recall, won the League and Cup double whilst with Chelsea but was sacked the following May after only finishing second in the Premier League.

However, our referenced source also goes on to suggest that Ancelotti wants Paul Clement as his assistant which could be a bit of a problem.

Clements is now carving out a managerial career in his own right, with Swansea, with there being doubts that he`d want to leave his position to be reunited with the Italian.
