I Woke Up This Morning Feeling Fine

Was yesterday a wake-up call or was it something that was always likely to happen?

Ahead of the kick-off nobody expected Chelsea to lose against Crystal Palace, Sam Allardyce`s side were meant to be the fall-guys as Chelsea edged closer to the Premier League title.

But Palace hadn`t read the script, two smart finishes left Chelsea chasing the game and it was a scenario we couldn`t, but not for lack of trying, recover from.

Naturally, the TV pundits lapped up our defeat, proclaiming that the title race, courtesy of Spurs win away to Burnley, was wide open and persuading the ‘Fat Lady` to sit down for another few weeks.

But, guess what?

Climbing out of my bed this morning and opening the curtains, I wasn`t greeted by any dark, foreboding clouds, there were no fires of hell coming up through the gaps in the paving slabs, instead the sky was bright blue, the sun was coming up over the horizon and the first flowers of spring were in full bloom.

Okay, we`d lost but look at the situation closely.

We`re still seven points clear of the chasing pack, the gap is a luxury others cannot afford, we can still lose a match whilst the others know they have to win all their remaining matches.

It`s a situation Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool would love to be in.

Okay we might have lost against Crystal Palace but the performance the team put in was one of the best produced this season, ninety-nine times out of a hundred it would have been more than enough to give us a comfortable victory, we`ll play a lot worse between now and the end of the season and win handsomely, that`s the nature of the game.

So, let`s not panic, I know where I`d rather be in the Premier League table right now and it is where we sit now as opposed to the position currently occupied by any of the pack desperate to see us falter.
