Like Thibaut Courtois, Andreas Christensen has returned to Cobham from international duty. The Dane was believed to be suffering from fatigue and released by Denmark ahead of their friendly with Chile.

According to the Evening Standard, manager Age Hareide said,

“Andreas Christensen has been sent home to London. We do not want to take any risks with him. I cannot say exactly what is wrong with Christensen, but it is a little fatigue.”

‘It`s not serious, but it can be. It is a bit frustrating because we would have liked to trial him in both central defence and as a defensive midfielder.’

Christensen has been guilty of a couple of untimely misplaced passes in recent games. His elevation into the starting XI ahead of David Luiz has been inspirational.

With a home fixture against Tottenham coming up next weekend, it could be the Brazilian who slots back into that central defensive role, if needed. Of course that`s assuming Antonio Conte can bring himself to do so.

Luiz has spent long periods of the season, since disagreeing with Conte`s tactics against Roma, ‘injured`. It may be no bad thing if he`s given another chance to show what he`s capable of against the lilywhites.
