Opinion: Lampard Has No Option Other Than To Take The Chelsea Job

With the managerial position at Stamford Bridge now vacant following the departure of Maurizio Sarri, Click Here, we’re all eager for that crucial announcement as to who will replace him.

Naturally, speculation is mounting that suggests the legend that is Frank Lampard is the name in the frame.

According to the Sun, negotiations have already begun with the tabloid publication, inferring that Lampard, currently on holiday, is set to meet up with Roman Abramovich, on his luxury yacht, to discuss succeeding Maurizio Sarri.

Elsewhere, ESPN, are reporting that the club are looking to offer Lampard a three-year-deal to take on what would be his dream job.

But before we all get ready to welcome Lampard as the boss, perhaps we should be wary that the Derby Telegraph, are reporting that Derby are set to hold talks with Lampard about a contract extension.

However, if that causes you concern then perhaps the words of the Times and the Sun, may placate you with the former inferring that Derby were, unsuccessfully, looking towards Steven Gerrard as the replacement for Lampard in the Pride Park hot seat whilst the latter offers the view that the recent sacking of Garry Monk, at Birmingham City, could pave the way for him to take the Derby County job.

Now, it could be suggested that the Chelsea role may have come too early for Lampard and that he lacks the experience to make a go of it but an offer to manage the club he adores might not come around again.

Plus, if Chelsea, unlike with previous managerial appointments, give Lampard the promise of time to gel a new Chelsea with no fear of an early axing, we might just, after all these years, have stumbled upon the very person to create that dynasty we’ve, despite our on-field success, been craving for since Abramovich bought the club lock, stock and barrel.
