Despite it only, originally, being classified as a minor injury.

Limping of last week against Newcastle United and then, subsequently, missing the Champions` League trip to take on Paris St-Germain, it was hoped that John Terry had recovered from the hamstring injury that had kept him side-lined enabling him to take his place at the heart of the Chelsea defence for the FA Cup clash with Manchester City this Sunday.

However that will not be the case.

At his pre-match press conference this lunch-time Guus Hiddink confirmed that although John Terry had been with the club`s medical staff he will not be considered for selection for the FA Cup fifth round tie with Guus suggesting the tie ad come a game too soon with our Dutch manager remarking,

‘I hope next weekend he will be available.

‘I cannot predict it. I think we have to be a bit cautious with him as well.’

This suggests that Guus, with Kurt Zouma on the side-lines for the foreseeable future, Hiddink will have to stick with the partnership, at the heart of defence, of Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic.
