That Red Mist Still Descends When it Comes To A Former Chelsea Favourite

|

I’m probably not alone when I admit that I miss seeing Diego Costa in a Chelsea shirt.

Diego was an uncompromising striker, a player who took no prisoners, someone who wasn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers but more importantly a striker who knew where the goal was and somebody who gave his all for the team.

Okay, sometimes he went a bit too far and found himself in hot water, but that was all part of his game, something that made him better than others of his ilk.

To this day, I still can’t fathom out why Antonio Conte didn’t do more to smooth over the friction that existed between the pair, but history is history and we can only follow the exploits of the forward from afar.

But it seems that the striker has lost none of that tempestuous streak.

According to the Spanish news vehicle, AS, Diego is once again the main headline in the sports pages with the 30-year-old apparently declaring he is on strike and refusing to train with his current club, Atletico Madrid, after receiving an 8-game ban for his latest misdemeanour.

Don’t you just miss those chaotic days when Diego wore our blue shirt!
