The Chelsea Summer Exodus Is Set To Continue With The Departure Of A Defender

|

With Willian and Pedro both having left Chelsea Football Club, here at Vital Chelsea, we are expecting further departures before the season starts.

After spending big and looking to continue to do so, Chelsea need to offload several of the squad to help balance the books.

One player who we expect to leave is our Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri.

The 26-year-old was signed by Antonio Conte, back in January 2018 for a fee of £17.5 million.

However, his first-team opportunities have been limited and Emerson, who is 26-years-of-age, has not started a Premier League game since January.

According to The Daily Mail, Emerson could be set to be reunited with Conte with Conte’s current club, Inter Milan, looking to acquire his services.

Tied to a Chelsea contract until 2022, our quoted source implies that Emerson, who is keen to secure the left-back spot in the Italian national side ahead of the European Championships, has agreed on personal terms with Inter.

Unfortunately, things are not so clean-cut when it comes to the transfer fee.

Our referenced source infers that Chelsea are looking at a fee of £20 million whilst Inter are looking for a reduction in that figure.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we expect a deal to be done and if Chelsea can get the £17.5 million, they paid for the player, in these COVID-19 affected financial times, then it would be a decent reward.

On occasion, Emerson looked to be just what Chelsea needed in that problematic left-back spot but injuries and inconsistency allied with Marcus Alonso being the better option when a change in formation to a back three was necessitated, his future became clouded in doubt.

If Chelsea could raise around £100m from zappa costa, Emerson, jorginho, Batshuayi , bakayoko this summer.

It would be real good… I know they cost us around 180m..
