Chelsea Closing In On That Elusive Left-Back Signing

|

Chelsea’s desire to recruit a new left-back continues to see the club linked with a move for the Leicester City defender, Ben Chilwell.

Previously, this summer, we’ve followed the speculation with the following article our latest offering – chelsea-have-rivals-when-it-comes-to-signing-this-full-back.

Today, Sunday, the vibes are, as confirmed by The Independent that Chelsea are closing in on a deal.

Our referenced source re-iterates that Leicester City originally wanted a transfer fee of the magnitude of £80 million for the player, a similar fee they received from Manchester United last summer for Harry Maguire.

However, it would appear that some skillful Chelsea negotiations have seen that fee reduced and with the 23-year-old keen to join Chelsea, we could approach the stage, early next week, whereby a medical is carried out.

Continuing on the theme of left-backs, Chelsea, this summer, have also been linked with the signing of the 23-year-old Real Madrid left-back, Sergio Reguilon, also a subject we covered here at Vital Chelsea – chelsea-face-opposition-for-ideal-defensive-purchase.

But the latest on that deal, courtesy of Calciomercato, is that the Spaniard, who has spent the season on loan at Sevilla, is set to join the Serie A side, Napoli.

Reguilon would have been the cheaper option but would he have succeeded in the more physical Premier League is a question I’d like to be ask?

However, until either player signs on the dotted line it is only speculation and we can but wait for official confirmation.

But out of the two who would you prefer?

u may be right. lampard is not looking and learning from what is happening at bayern, man city, liverpool etc clubs that are purchacing reasonably priced foreign talent . as a local coach he has the mentality of promoting his countryman although when they are overrated and overpriced like Maguire.

my question is: who is the local coach with more than 5 local players to win eufa, europa even epl/ FA in the past decade? the last one was the shrewd and experienced fox Sir Ferguson. Maybe lampard is emulating him. we wish him the best
