Antonio Conte says the difference Chelsea and Premier League title rivals Tottenham is the fact it is ‘normal’ for the Blues to win whereas it isn’t seen as ‘a disaster’ at Spurs if they lose.
Conte is seeking a reaction to the Crystal Palace defeat but knows another slip up against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, which might yet revive their title ambitions, could open the door to Tottenham.
However, even if the Blues are able to fend off the challenge of Spurs, looking for a first title since 1961, to win a fifth Premier League title Conte feels our London rivals should still view this season as another good campaign.
Conte was quoted by Sky Sports as saying.
‘The difference between Chelsea and Tottenham is this: if you stay in Chelsea, if you win it’s normal. If you stay in Tottenham, if you win it’s great, but if you lose it’s not a disaster. It’s not a disaster, because you find a lot of situations to explain a good season.’
The Italian came to the club last summer with the challenge of bringing the Premier League title back to Stamford Bridge but maybe not this season? Conte admitted the Blues went into the season as ‘underdogs.’
But now Chelsea are top Conte’s looking to ‘keep this position’ of course.
‘In this season, us and Tottenham stay in the same level. Chelsea were underdogs at the start of the season, but now we are top and we want to keep this position.’
