The Options Are Limited As Chelsea Seek To Offload The £35 Million Midfielder

|

The Chelsea career of Danny Drinkwater appears to be reaching its end.

The 28-year-old who joined Chelsea from Leicester City for a fee of £35 million last summer has failed to establish himself in the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Plans to utilise him alongside N’Golo Kante, thereby reuniting the midfield partnership that steered Leicester City to the Premier League title, didn’t quite come off with Drinkwater being limited to just five Premier League games last season.

Today, the insinuation is given that the former England player is up for grabs, according to the popular news source, the Daily Mail.

However, with the Premier League transfer window closed, Drinkwater’s options are limited

As we see it, there are two options open to Drinkwater.

The first would see the player drop down into the Championship, although that would be very unlikely considering the player remains ambitious and Chelsea would be looking to recoup a large part of the fee they paid out for the player last season.

The second would see the player move to Europe where the transfer window remains open until the end of the month, an option that, here at Vital Chelsea, we believe would be more viable.

But, and this is where you come in, which of the many clubs on the continent can you see being interested in the midfielder?
