If, as I strongly believe, Eden Hazard and Chelsea do part company in the next few weeks, the Stamford Bridge support, transfer ban allowing, will expect the club to bring in a big-name replacement.

One name that continues to be linked with a move to the club, transfer ban allowing, is that of the Brazilian midfielder, Philippe Coutinho.

Following Barcelona’s spectacular exit in the Champions League, at the hands of Liverpool, the Catalan giants are looking to reshape their squad this summer and Coutinho could very well be one of the casualties of the overhaul.

As a result, Barcelona are looking at selling the midfielder and the news source, Goal, is reporting that the Spanish club, transfer ban allowing, are expecting Chelsea to submit a bid.

But, according to another source, Sport, any fee Chelsea receive from Real Madrid, for Eden Hazard, will be required to meet Barcelona’s asking price which our quoted source is putting at €100 million.

Which leads me on to the crux of this article.

If such a move were to happen, transfer ban allowing, would acquiring Coutinho ease the pain of losing Eden Hazard?

  • Coutinho would be a perfect fit for chelsea football club after hazard departure but i also believe that if the transfer ban is frozen chelsea should consider buying james roudrigez and luka jovic and change there formation to 4-2-3-1 with james roudrigez and coutinho amongst the front three

  • No No NO! What on Earth are you thinking? I’m sorry but did you see Coutinho play in the CL semi finals v Liverpool? Coutinho was awful in both games and most of the reports this season coming out of Barca he’s been a flop. Funnily enough, Tunde suggests bringing in James Rodriguez as well. So is the idea to have two difficult to tell apart flops costing over 150 million pounds? Bad idea!

Jovic is a good call and maybe Chelsea can try to sell Hazard for 20 million less so Real’s first asking price if they don’t bid for Jovic, clearing the way for Chelsea to purchase him.

We need four players (not 2, Sarri! FOUR OR FIVE). As said we need a CB and a LB. One midfield creative player and a leftwing and striker. That’s half the team in outfield players but that’s what we need. By selling Emerson(25-30), Alonso (40?), Zouma(30), Pedro(25), Willian(30), Morata(50-60), Giroud(12-15), Batshuayi(30) and Hazard(100) makes makes well clear of 300m which is enough for a complete rebuild and that’s what we need to catch up with City.

  • I so wish Edan Hazard can stay because the man is the Messi of Chelsea and going for the CL next season letting him go will be a big loss to the team

  • No one can replace Hazard, definitely not coutinho.
Of course coutinho alongside pulisic will improve the quality of the team in the absence of hazard.
