Earlier this weekend, here at Vital Chelsea, we covered the growing inference that Chelsea may be set to make one last big signing before the transfer window closed.
Our article – chelsea-lining-up-one-big-last-summer-transfer-window-deal – covered the possibility that player could well be Declan Rice.
Today, further fuel is added to the fire by The Sun, which suggests that Chelsea could try and persuade West Ham United to sell the England international by offering both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger in part-exchange.
Neither Rudiger nor Loftus-Cheek are currently in favour at Chelsea with Frank Lampard preferring to use alternative centre-backs and Loftus-Cheek having not played in any of the recent games.
Now whether it is a part-exchange that West Ham would be interested in remains to be seen.
Naturally, the possibility of a late swoop for Rice was the perfect material for a poll, with the question reading:

The results were, considering the work that would have to be done to get the deal across the line, surprising with 60% going for the YES option, 35% for the NO option and the remaining 5% sitting on the fence and going for the UNDECIDED option.
My view is that I would be extremely surprised if a deal were to be done and to be brutally honest, I am not sure we need him.

We need more physicality in the middle of the park and let’s face it we’ve been waiting years for RLC to fulfil his apparent potential..with Rudiger out of favour, I’d welcome this swap.
