January Will See Chelsea Move On A Left-Back But Which One?

|

Any one out of three clubs it seems could be a destination but is there a twist in the tale?

In these crazy pandemic driven times when the summer transfer window extended into October, Chelsea found that there still was not sufficient time to move on all those players who have little chance of being part of the golden future we all hope Frank Lampard will oversee.

One of these players was Emerson Palmieri.

With Chelsea paying circa £50 million for Ben Chilwell, Emerson finds himself vying with Marcos Alonso for the left-back back-up slot.

At 26-years-of-age, you would imagine that Emerson craves regular first-team football, and it remains a mystery why despite reputed interest from several Serie A clubs – chelsea-defender-heading-back-to-serie-a – he remains at Stamford Bridge.

However, according to The Express that situation is likely to change in January with our source implying that Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli are all considering a bid.

But such interest could provide Chelsea with a conundrum as it is also possible that Marcos Alonso could leave, something we have also touched on previously – former-chelsea-boss-interested-in-one-of-his-former-charges – which leaves us to ask the question:

Who Would You Prefer Chelsea To Sell?

Emerson Palmieri

Marcus Alonso

Knowing that the club would be looking to retain one as back-up for Chilwell.

Sell both, neither can defend and we have plenty of attacking options! Replace with David Alaba – great competition for Chilwell at LB plus can play CB and replace the leadership and experience of Thiago Silva when he goes either next summer or the one after. 28 years old and out of contract next summer. Alaba and Donnarumma to make us genuine contenders, go get ’em Marina!
