Opinion: Chelsea And Real Madrid Agree On A Fee For Hazard But It’s Not Enough

|

Recently, whilst covering what is likely to be the most talked about transfer of the summer, we expressed our desire to see Chelsea get a realistic price, from Real Madrid, for Eden Hazard.

Our article, Click Here urged Chelsea to not let the 28-year-old Belgian international go for a fee for anything less than £100 million.

Unfortunately, it appears that may not be the case.

This morning, sifting through the various media sources available, something has caught my eye in The Guardian.

It infers that Chelsea have, after negotiations with Real Madrid, agreed on a fee for the sale of our jewel-in-the-crown.

Seemingly, the fee for his transfer has been agreed at £88.5 million!

If that is the case, then I’m disappointed, it falls short of my estimation of the player and I can’t help thinking that Real Madrid know that.

Furthermore, with Chelsea, unless any pending appeal proves to be successful, it’s not as if we can invest the money in a direct replacement for Hazard.

Unless somebody, within the squad, ups their game next season, our capability to create chances has now diminished considerably.
