The Name Of Another Defender Is Thrown Into The Mix As Chelsea Look To Solve That Problematic Left Back Position

|

The last few weeks have seen Chelsea and the words left-back appear regularly in the same sentence.

It appears the media are convinced that Frank Lampard is looking to bolster that position ahead of the 2020 / 2021 season.

Our latest offering on the subject – chelsea-move-a-step-closer-to-bringing-a-new-left-back-to-stamford-bridge – covered the inference that Chelsea had identified Alex Telles, of Porto, as the player they wanted.

However, this morning, that suggestion isn’t something that The Express concurs with.

Our quoted source believes that Chelsea have abandoned their interest in the Leicester City full-back, Ben Chilwell. Instead they are focussing on Nicolas Taqliafico.

Taqliafico, a 27-year-old Argentine, is currently on the books of the Dutch club, Ajax.

No doubt, before a signing is announced, Chelsea will be linked with yet more left-backs, after all it wasn’t that long ago that the name of Marc Cucurella was linked with the club with The Sport still of the belief Chelsea are still interested in the 21-year-old Spanish defender.

All I’ll say on the subject is that we’ll try and keep abreast of any developments and report back as deemed necessary.
