It is a possible deal that looks unlikely but continues to generate column inches.
The mainstream media continue to generate column inches linking the West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice, with a move to Stamford Bridge.
When the speculation first arose, here at Vital Chelsea, we had our doubts as to whether it was a deal that could be gotten across the line – chelseas-wish-to-sign-england-international-looks-dead-in-the-water – and, despite the plethora of articles that have followed in the media, we’ve seen nothing to change our minds.
The latest mutterings on the subject come from The Times with our quoted source implying that if 21-year-old Rice is to return to the club he was at as a youngster then our East London neighbours want in excess of £80 million to agree to a deal.
Now while I readily accept that our defence needs some attention this summer, I’m still not sold on the idea of converting Rice not a centre-back, in fact, if the club does have £80 million to spend, I’d suggest it goes in search of somebody who is already proven as a centre-back.
But is that a view you concur with?

Chelsea Struggling To Get A Deal For Top Midfield Target Over The Line
You are truly right about that.
I would even stress on a point that Chelsea let go of Havertz as well.
He’s too expensive and the area he occupies on the field
is not really our major problem. As there are many options available.
Let’s use the money for CB and a goal keeper as well as LB.
That’s my view.
Let’s Sign Him I Think Is Right Person Evendo The Money Is Big
Its an amazing story it really is. Considering West Ham have spoken to no one about Declan Rice and arent selling anyway. Sure is a mystery when they put a price on his sale. lots of head scratching and laughter i believe probably going on at West Ham. Its amazing!
